Colan Totte Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; CEO: Katsumi Komatsu), a manufacturer and distributor of the Colantotte brand of magnetic health gear, concluded an advisory contract with Takuya Kai of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks on March 1st, 2019.
Takuya Kai is known as the “Kai Cannon” for his strong throwing arm, and he also boasts a high caught stealing average. In the 2018 SMBC Japan Series, Kai achieved six consecutive caught stealings and won the Series MVP Award. He began using Colantotte products in 2017 and has experienced their effects firsthand, saying, “My blood circulation has improved thanks to their magnetic effect, and my shoulders feel easier to move.”
Takuya Kai has gone from being under a player development contract to being selected as the team’s main catcher, and a national representative.
During the off-season, he takes part in Colantotte events, and we are impressed with how much he values his fans as well as children. In 2010, he joined as the sixth-round pick in the player development draft.
In 2013, he formally registered with the team and was assigned number 62.
In 2017, he won a spot on the starting team, then he became the first starting member, hit his first come-from-behind home run with the bases loaded as a professional player, in addition to many other feats. He contributed greatly to his team’s rise to the top spot in Japan, and was chosen as Japan’s representative. He became the first catcher who started out in player development to win the Mitsui Golden Glove Award, and he was chosen as one of the best nine.
In 2018, he became the only player among the 12 teams to have a caught stealing rate of over 40% by 447 caught stealings. In the 2018 SMBC Japan Series, Kai achieved six consecutive caught stealings and won the Series MVP Award. He contributed greatly to his team’s successive no. 1 standing.
He won the Mitsui Golden Glove Award two years in a row.
The strong throwing arm that has allowed him to make so many caught stealings has earned him the moniker “Kai Cannon.”
